Hey, I’m Shane—printmaker, night owl, and chief candle-burner at both ends here at Carved by Candlelight.
a Houston-based print studio born from too many late nights, a stack of Moleskine Cahiers, and a love for slow, steady work.
I started printmaking in 2012, carving simple monthly designs next to oil paintings just for the joy of it. What began as a side hobby quickly became something more: unassuming, relaxing, deeply purposeful—and surprisingly useful. (Those early monthly prints? Still in the shop.)
Now, I press everything by hand—low-cost commissions, frame-worthy pieces, and whatever strange little ideas come out after midnight. I carve slowly, press thoughtfully, and try to make each print feel like something worth keeping.
From custom commissions to one-of-a-kind designs, I make prints for people who like their art with some texture, a little soul, and maybe a few fingerprints still on the paper.
